Claire : Class of 2023 Snowy Downtown Senior Photo Session

“My ray of sunshine”. That’s how Claire’s mom, Cheryl, describes her and we also wanted to incorporate her love of writing and reading. Claire is headed to University of Iowa with an English major bent at the moment. And while we were hoping her braces would be off by the the time our session rolled around, we had to make magic happen in February and pray for good weather so we could get Claire’s photo into the yearbook in time!

We used what I call “The Starburst” sculpture downtown to portray the “ray of sunshine” that is Claire to start our session off right and then headed deeper into downtown to the PapaJohn Sculpture Park for what I call the Letter Man. :)

Just in case things were really dicey outside, I planned to use the inside of the Des Moines Library. It is quite the colorful place on Saturday mornings! We snuck these photos in really quickly and worked an outfit change as well before heading back out!

Last stop was our auditorium where Claire has done a fair bit of singing in her high school career, but to my utter amusement, Claire brought a hula-hoop to keep things interesting and who knew you could make a Venn diagram with a hula hoop’s shadow!? #TheMoreYouKnow ;)

Claire - It’s been so fun having you in class and now photographing you! I wish you all the best as the year comes to (what feels like) a screeching halt. Enjoy these last couple weeks of the year as you look to adventures ahead!

Best,

Mrs. K
