Getting to know me…
Family and legacy have always been at the heart of my story. Growing up, my home was filled with antique photos—snapshots of history that deepened my love for storytelling through images.
In 2021, I lost my father to acute leukemia. As a former Air Force photo recon pilot, his photographs became even more priceless. His passion for capturing moments lives on in me—it’s in my blood, and it’s how I honor him with every shoot.
When you step in front of my camera, you’re not just posing for a picture—we’re preserving your story. With expertise, care, and a deep love for family, I help make your experience as comfortable and meaningful as possible.
I answer to several titles, most importantly among them are Christian, wife, & Mom. Additional labels include: teacher, leader, SUV-driving activity chauffeur, photographer, Chief Snack-Distributor, musician, and Iowa captive.
I moved from California to Des Moines to attend Drake University for music education, and I’ve spent the past 18 years teaching in various classroom settings, primarily in Norwalk, Iowa. Currently, I teach high school Photo 1, 2, Social Media/Communications, and will be observing Internship students starting fall of 2025!
My husband and I are incredibly grateful for our three wonderful kids—Adelaide, Lochlyn & Charlotte—who keep life full of energy and laughter. If the weather’s nice, you’ll find us at the softball or soccer fields, and if we’re indoors, I’m likely baking something inspired by The Great British Bake Off, getting lost in a National Geographic magazine, napping, or learning Spanish on Duolingo.
The saying goes, “I bend so I don’t break.” If I’m not driving children to the next thing or trying to stay ahead of the clutter, laundry or dishes, I’m on my mat. I found yoga as a great exercise practice for flexibility, endurance, and being able to lift my toddler for extended periods of time. I know I can’t do my job for you or for my students if I’m not healthy, able to carry my gear, scale hills, rocky steps or any other adventure my clients have in mind!
Life isn’t without its challenges, and while yoga has certainly helped me stay physically fit and my mat is an encouraging place to be, I wouldn’t be standing without my faith in Christ. He has truly worked all those difficult situations we’ve faced as a family for good! Yoga has also helped my word choice and direction in guiding clients through posing, but my faith has always directed my love for each person with whom I interact. I view them as a dearly loved child of God, made in His image, deserving of care and an excellent experience with me and my camera. My goal at every photo shoot is to help you feel comfortable, confident and loved!
