Lois + Lucas:Married

I first met Lois when I was a lost freshman attending my first ever Drake University Marching Band rehearsal. And when I say "first ever", I mean that I'd never been in marching band before. And if you look closely, the Bulldog musicians were in an ensemble with the acronym D.U.M.B. I was definitely DUMB in the marching department and literally had a rock in my left pocket to remind me that I started marching always with my left foot. Lois and her twin, Sarah, were always kind faces to help me along and guide me. Quiet and unassuming, they floated in and out of my life through college. Post college years, they both attended our Bible study for a year or so until God called them elsewhere. Little did we know that when Lois first vocalized her desire to be a missionary to our group of gals, that God was going to indeed call her elsewhere-Ireland & Africa to be exact-to serve alongside Lucas as his wife and fellow missionary.

I had the honor of documenting their nuptials last month and I saw another side of Lois that was the giggling, silly and punch drunk in love version of a committed servant of the Lord. Lucas has completely won Lois over, both in love and over the ocean as they start their life together in Ireland.

After photographing their rings, I caught the last remnants of Lois getting ready while my wonderful second shooter, Sarah (not the bride's sister), got images of the guys getting ready.

I stayed with Lois while Sarah directed Lucas on how their First Look would go and she captured wonderful candids from her vantage point of Lucas seeing his bride for the first time.

While I caught things from my view....

Sarah caught this beauty:

Like I said before, Sarah captured some great candids-including Lois' flower girl. What little girl doesn't love to twirl?!

While I worked with the gentlemen, Sarah nabbed a few of just Lois:

The ceremony went so smoothly, complete with a dipped kiss and a running recessional. Though simple, Lois & Lucas had an elegant day that put the focus on what the Lord has done in their lives as they cling to His promises of what He will do with them in the future too.

Many, many blessings Lois & Lucas!
