Sydney::Newborn
"She's the gal we always run into when we're shopping at Hy-Vee." At least, that's how Gerard described Jaqui when she contacted me to photograph Sydney upon arrival. Because somehow, we'd run into her in the produce section at least half a dozen different trips to the grocery store. Speaking of produce, Jaqui and her husband, Andy, produced quite the cutie who hung in there long enough to get a few amazing shots of her newborn state.
Crazy how newborns can go from one state to another in a matter of seconds! :)
Sydney loves being swaddled, so the large majority of her images are wrapped up in a swaddling blanket. Well, that and being in Daddy's arms never hurts either:
While I can now totally relate to the discomforts of recovery post-partum, Jaqui looked stunning and not the slightest bit uncomfortable.
Out of her swaddle and undergoing an outfit change makes for one very unhappy Sydney...but you have to photograph those wrinkly eyebrows and forehead for posterity. Right?
This is probably my favorite image of the session. I love my job and I REALLY love my new 50mm 1.4 lens. It made Andy's profile in the background a creamy blur while getting Sydney's adorably large feet tack sharp in his hands. I hope this one goes on their wall somewhere big!
You have to bling-it-up for your little girl:
After being cuddled with for several minutes, we half uncovered her so we could see her darling yellow-lace outfit while still giving her the semblance of feeling swaddled. She seemed to be totally fine with that compromise!
Jaqui + Andy: Thank you so much for the privilege of photographing sweet Sydney. It truly is an honor to capture this special part of your lives and document just how tiny she is now. Thank you for your trust and patience while we tried to figure her out during our session and soothe her discomfort. You guys are doing great and are such troopers!!
Blessings in the acclimation to parenthood,
Carrie
