Erin + Carl
I've had the distinct pleasure in photographing this family numerous times and I can't say enough good things about them. While Erin & I performed together in college, we've really become friends post-educational pursuits. Loaning me maternity clothes or providing a meal for us after our little girl was born are just a few of the things that Erin has done for me--serving me and our family out of the goodness of her heart. We are so appreciative!!
But I digress; let's get to the really fun stuff!
We had just started our session when it began to sprinkle and, as is the habit of Iowa weather, then pour. Thankfully, our session location had a shelter that is used for music concerts throughout the summer months. Saved!!
Carl & his boys--so adorable, yes? Hard to imagine that I've known these little guys (Zach & Trevor, not Carl) since they were born. It is so fun to watch them grow and their features change.

After some tears because of the rain (Zach's, not mine), we found something that turned that frown upside down: swinging!!
That and picking up his little brother:
After a fruit snack intermission (saved once again!) what better way to end their session with the reward of throwing rocks!? While it may look slightly like Carl is giving someone The Bird, this is a family friendly affair and he's holding rocks as you would hold a baseball correctly. Never fear, folks, this is a G-rated blog. :)
Erin + Carl: Thank you so much for having me! You guys are troopers and it warms my heart that you're always committed to getting the great shots despite any challenges that we may face during our time together. The way you approach our sessions is much the way you approach life too: thriving amidst any challenge. Gerard & I are so thankful for your friendship and kindness!
Blessings,
Carrie
