Andrew : Class of 2019

You met his older sister, Emalyn, a couple years ago but I was still floored to hear that it's Andrew's turn to be in front of my camera. (So soon?!) Tonight, Andrew is playing in Baseball Districts tonight (Go Warriors!!) so I thought it would make the day extra special to post his senior photos today. :) Good luck tonight Andrew!!

His mom warned me that of all the school photos he's taken, Andrew has smiled for just TWO. I think we beat that record and then some!

We headed down to where he really smiles most: the ball field. And, oh man, did Andrew's face light up!!

Hootch: Best of luck tonight and on everything your senior year has to offer! I know you're going to knock it out of the park. And I'm not just talking about home runs on the diamond. ;)

Blessings,

Carrie

Chloe : Class of 2019

I'm still having "pinch me" moments with this incoming senior class! We had a great time capturing Chloe as she enters this school year and I'm so glad we were able to get her on my schedule! It was so endearing to see her face truly light up when we started talking about her work with a 3yr-old preschool classroom and you can tell she's destined to continue working with Littles after graduation. We hopped around downtown Des Moines to various locations despite the sticky heat. Chloe was a champ as we did our best to find the right light, the right location and coordinate that with the perfect outfits that she brought with her.

Way to go Chloe!

Our last stop was an overlook of the downtown skyline but we also had fun with this art structure:

Chloe: You did awesome! It was so fun having you in front of my camera and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them! Blessings on your senior year and I wish you all the best beyond the halls of NHS!

Jenna : Class of 2019

Having now taught all the Fisher girls, I can't believe I get to have one in front of my camera!! Jenna is an outstanding alto sax player and has proven herself to be a fantastic asset to our high school program as well. Need I mention that she's also excellent with Littles and aspires to help children in hospital situations? How sweet is that! I would love for her to be near my daughter or son if they are ever facing time in a hospital-she has a soft, soothing voice and remains calm in any stressful situation. Jenna is aiming to attend Iowa State for their program that would lead her on that path to assist children in their hospital stay.

But first thing's first: her senior year and senior pictures!!

We had a great time playing with the light on this particular evening, hopping from one part of our field to another as the clouds danced through the sky, giving us shade or harsh light. Jenna was up for anything I challenged her to do and was completely with me as we worked the light situation in which we found ourselves. What a champ!

We finished our time at Valley Junction and touched on her music career as well.

Jenna:

I know you're going to do excellent things this year and beyond the halls of Norwalk HS. I'm so proud of who you are and who you are becoming. I can't wait to see what your future endeavors include!

All the best,

Carrie

Alex : Class of 2019

His mom approached me mid-February at a Show Choir Team Dinner and detailed this amazing Joker Suit that Alex has worked to compile over the years. Of all the super heroes and villains, Alex's favorite is The Joker and he has a great smile impersonation of him to boot! We started our time together in full costume with props and I think it helped start the session at a level of comfortability that is rare. And it was because Alex was wearing his favorite thing. That reinforced a great lesson on what to communicate to future seniors: wear what you love and it will translate into your photos even more!

After a quick outfit change, Alex was totally ready to and in the groove to take awesome shots along the Des Moines river and we quickly got our posing down to a science. :)

Some new development has gone in by the riverwalk area and we commented on how it looks almost like a set out of a movie-so pristine and clean and downright fun, I might add!

Andrew:
Congratulations!! I know you're going to have an outstanding time wherever you decide to go (but secretly, I hope you go to the one that gives you the great roommate we talked about!) ;) I'm also sure that you will do amazing things in the criminal justice system because you had an outstanding example go before you. Keep him in mind and you won't go wrong!!

Blessings in everything,

Carrie

Gina : Class of 2019

In 6th grade, I hoped this young lady would be in front of my camera for her senior photos. She's got a sense of style that I've watched morph over the years and she can pretty much wear anything and make it look good! I learned that her sunglasses are her signature accessory and we had fun make them work for us in just about every chance we got. A quieter soul, I greatly enjoyed having undistracted conversation with Gina throughout our time together and while she claimed it was going to take her awhile to warm up to the camera, I didn't think we were hindered in any way!

A quick outfit change and she looks like a metropolis city gal ready to take on the world in a Vogue magazine!

But she can wear country/nature equally well! We had a great time with this rust-colored dress and the light breeze. :)

We wrapped up our session in Gina's backyard with her 20 year old cat who's seen her through all of her life. According to Gina, "He smells, he can't walk very well. But we love him to pieces."

Gina: I'm so excited to see where Life takes you in the years after high school! I know you're going to be awesome because you are comfortable in your own skin and you unabashedly show who you are on a daily basis. Sunglasses and all. Congratulations on your senior year, in advance, and enjoy your summer!!

Blessings,

Mrs. K
